Guild Wars 2 sells 2 million

ArenaNet's pay-once MMORPG crosses new sales milestone after digital sales reopen.

Guild Wars II may have been in development for years, but it's not taking nearly that long to reach commercial success. Publisher NCSoft announced today that the pay-once massively multiplayer online role-playing game has sold 2 million units since launch on August 28.

NCSoft said the game reached double platinum status after first-party digital sales were reopened. These were shut off for a short period to "maintain an optimal player experience."

Before Guild Wars II even launched, it sold over 1 million units through pre-purchases, accruing peak concurrency user figures of over 400,000. For more on Guild Wars II, check out GameSpot's review.
