Hasbro sent out this amazing page-a-day Star Wars calendar to help us countdown to the release of new Star Wars product on “Force Friday” on September 4th.

Today we are 84 days away from Force Friday and the toy of the day is the vintage Kenner Laser Pistol.   That’s right kids, this Star Wars toy wasn’t always molded in safety orange plastic.  Back in the day is was black, just like in the movie.

I spent many a summer day with one of these sticking out of my belt.   The “secret button activating the 2-speed ‘laser’ sound” wasn’t what anyone would call a movie accurate sound effect… as matter of fact it sounded more like a dentist’s drill than a laser, but we loved it all the same.
