Boulder, Colo. — Dec. 12, 2016 — Kidrobot, the world’s premiere designer and retailer of limited edition art toys and apparel, today announced the release of an all-new, limited edition plush series based on iconic pieces from the world-renowned artist, Andy Warhol. The new plush series is now available for purchase on Kidrobot.com and in stores everywhere.

“We’re excited to share the love for one of the world’s most iconic artists through our all-new plush series,” said, Allen Richardson, Vice President of Product and Marketing at Kidrobot. “Now Warhol and Kidrobot fans around the globe can enjoy iconic Warhol art pieces with a unique Kidrobot twist.”

The Kidrobot x Andy Warhol plush series includes:

  • Brillo Box 5-Inch Plush — Perhaps one of Warhol’s more controversial pieces, this plush is a recreation of Warhol Brillo Box series. Created because Warhol “wanted to make something ordinary” the Brillo Box series pushed the boundaries of what is art and challenged the ideas put forth by the Abstract Expressionist movement at the time — a must-have for any Warhol fan and art collector alike!

  • Yellow Banana and Pink Banana 14-Inch & 30-Inch Plush — Created for the cover of the 1967 album The Velvet Underground & Nico, this plush is a recreation of one of Andy Warhol’s most iconic prints. Acting as the Velvet Underground’s manager the print was originally used as a sticker to cover a nude color banana underneath and has since become a rare collector’s item as well as become one of the most recognizable pieces in pop culture — this plush is a great addition for art and music lovers alike.

  • Campbell’s Soup Can 10-Inch & 22-Inch Plush — Motivated by a friend’s suggestion to paint “something you see every day and something everyone would recognize, something like a can of Campbell’s soup,” this plush is a recreation of Warhol’s most iconic piece. The Soup Cans series also marked the transition from hand painting to the photo-silkscreen process, which became his signature medium — a must-have for any art lover.

  • Revolver 10-Inch & 22-Inch Plush — Inspired by his close encounter with death, this plush is a recreation of the revolver seen in Andy Warhol’s “Guns” series.  The revolver is a duplicate of the one used when he was almost fatally shot in 1968 by Valerie Solanas. After the shooting, death became a prominent theme in Warhol’s work and ushered in a new era and feeling to his art — this piece makes a great statement for Warhol fans and art lovers alike.
