LADIES’ HOME JOURNAL MAGAZINE ANNOUNCES VIRTUAL TOY DRIVE DECEMBER 2-8 TO BENEFIT TOYS FOR TOTS

Build-A-Bear, Lego, LeapFrog, Hasbro, Scholastic, Walgreens and Disney to Sponsor Holiday Gifts for Kids in Need

NEW YORK, NY (December 2, 2013) – Ladies’ Home Journal announced that it will partner with Toys for Tots to host a virtual toy drive December 2d through December 8th to collect new toys for children in need this holiday season.  The sponsors—Build-A-Bear, Lego, LeapFrog, Hasbro, Scholastic, Walgreens and Disney—will each donate up to $5,000 worth of gifts to the organization. Ladies’ Home Journal readers can participate by visiting www.LHJ.com/toys and liking the sponsored toy of the day chosen by the magazine’s favorite mom bloggers.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Toys for Tots to help raise donations this holiday season,” says Sally Lee, Editor-in-Chief of Ladies’ Home Journal. “It’s estimated that 16 million kids might wake on Christmas morning without presents and we want to change that. Our virtual toy drive allows our readers and fans to participate from anywhere and make a child happy with one click of a button.”

Ladies’ Home Journal was inspired to partner with Toys for Tots by First Lady Michelle Obama, who is on the cover of the December/January 2014 issue. Every year the White House supports the foundation, originally started by members of the Marine Corps Reserve, and gathers hundreds of toys for children in need. The December/January 2014 issue is on newsstands now.

The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in local communities.
