LEGO Brick turns 55!

The humble LEGO Brick is 55 years old today!

An earlier version of our beloved brick! Not fully evolved in to the brick we know and love today, this brick did not have the system in which the pieces fit together and stay together! LegoBrick2 This is one of the patent drawings for the LEGO Brick which uses the LEGO system. This marked the birth of the classic LEGO Brick! The application for the patent was successful and this was the very certificate to prove it! Early moulding machines in action at the LEGO factory in Billund, Denmark.  Did you know that on average, every person on Earth owns 80 LEGO bricks! And this is what the moulding machines look like today!  Over the years, approximately 600 billion LEGO elements have been manufactured! Plenty to go around! There's been some iconic moments in the life of a LEGO Brick, including this golden number! And we owe it all to this simple but ingenious masterpiece!  Happy Birthday LEGO Brick! We love you!
