LOTR: Rings Of Power Season 2 Gets Game-Changing Trailer And Season 2 Premiere Date

After two long years, we finally have our first look at Season 2 of Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power as well as a release date: August 29. While it's a Harfoot-sized reel of things to come, the world of Middle-earth is about to change, and for the worse. Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) and Lord Elrond (Robert Aramayo) gather their forces to take arms up against the recently revealed Sauron (Charles Vickers).

"An evil, ancient and powerful, has returned," Owain Arthur's Prince Durin IV announces at the beginning of the new footage. What follows is a flurry of shots of battles, monsters--including a Great Eagle--magic, and the three rings Narya, Nenya, and Vilya being worn seemingly for the first time. Finally, at the end, we see the frosty creation of a great fortress. It's hard to tell, but it easily could be Orthanc or the foundation of Barad-dur. Amazon wasn't kidding when it said business was about to pick up in Season 2. Check it out below.

"In Season Two of The Rings of Power, Sauron has returned. Cast out by Galadriel, without army or ally, the rising Dark Lord must now rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power, which will allow him to bind all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will," the official synopsis reads. "Building on Season One's epic scope and ambition, the new season plunges even its most beloved and vulnerable characters into a rising tide of darkness, challenging each to find their place in a world that is increasingly on the brink of calamity. Elves and dwarves, orcs and men, wizards and Harfoots…as friendships are strained and kingdoms begin to fracture, the forces of good will struggle ever more valiantly to hold on to what matters to them most of all...each other."
