Mattel’s MOTUC Mantenna, the Evil Spy with the Pop-out Eyes!

Mantenna® may not always see eye-to-eye with Hordak®, but he never loses sight of the objective… to destroy his enemies! The final member of the original 1985 Horde, this fan-demanded figure features an almost completely new sculpt. Mantenna® includes interchangeable pop-in and pop-out eyes to recreate the vintage action feature, and four fully articulated legs.

At long last our “Horde” is finally starting to feel like a horde.   We’ve got a lot of Hordak’s minions to beef up our shelves and now we can add fan favorite Mantenna to those ranks.  Mantenna is almost 100% new tooling.  I was looking over the figure the other day with Jeremy of Spy Monkey Creations and the only part re-use we could find was the hands.  That’s  lot of bang for your subscription buck.   The Horsemen and Mattel really did a bang up job on this translation from vintage version to modern “classic.”  I believe MOTU fans will be very happy with Mantenna once they have him in-hand.

His action feature was nicely replicated by including two sets of eyes, regular and “popped out” eyes on stalks.   They can be swapped out by removing the mouth section on the face and replacing the eyes of your preference.  Instead of including a separate piece of paper with the instructions, Mattel opted to used the blank space on the back of the white mailer box to show fans how to swap out the eyes on the figure.

Mantenna, the Evil Spy with the Pop-out Eyes!™ is the Club Eternia® figure for October 2013.

He will be available on MattyCollector.com on October 15th.
