Metal Gear Solid HD Collection hits PS Vita this summer

Konami confirms seasonal release window for touch-screen-enabled compilation of Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3.

Snake is sneaking onto the PlayStation Vita this summer, as Konami today confirmed that release window for Metal Gear Solid HD Collection.

The PS Vita version of the collection includes a pair of PlayStation 2 hits in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Both games are being tweaked for the PS Vita to support higher-resolution visuals and touch-screen controls.

The PS Vita version of the collection will also interact with the PlayStation 3 Metal Gear Solid HD Collection by way of Konami's "transfarring" cross-platform save data feature. Besides starting a game on the console and then continuing it on the handheld, transfarring will let players earn shared trophies across both systems.

While the PS Vita version of the compilation works with its PS3 counterpart, the two packages aren't perfectly alike. The PS3 collection includes an enhanced edition of the PSP game Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker that is absent from the PS Vita version.
