Microsoft planning to resurrect Heroes on Xbox – Report

Report states that show could return on Xbox with new cast and storylines.

Microsoft is reported to be planning a resurrection of superpowered drama Heroes as exclusive programming for the Xbox.

TVLine reports that Microsoft is in preliminary talks to relaunch the show on Xbox with a new cast of characters and storylines. Members of the original cast are also said to be making cameo appearances.

At the start of April Microsoft confirmed it had sold off its IPTV platform Mediaroom and will be now be devoting all of its TV resources to the Xbox.

The move "allows Microsoft to commit 100 percent of its focus on consumer TV strategy with Xbox," said Microsoft corporate vice president Yusuf Mehdi in a statement at the time.

"With the sale of Mediaroom, Microsoft is dedicating all TV resources to Xbox in a continued mission to make it the premium entertainment service that delivers all the games and entertainment consumers want--whether on a console, phone, PC, or tablet," Mehdi added.

Heroes ran for four seasons and ended its run on US network NBC in February 2010.
