Monster Hunter Movie Release Moved Forward Into 2020

It's been a tumultuous time for cinemas, with many big 2020 films--including Black Widow, No Time to Die, and F9: The Fast Saga--moving to 2021 release dates. But now, one movie scheduled for 2021 has actually moved forward into an otherwise quiet December 2020 release slot--Monster Hunter.

The new film from Paul W. S. Anderson, who previously directed all the live-action Resident Evil movies, has moved from an April 23, 2021 release date to December 30, 2020, Sony has announced. This will make it, by default, one of the biggest films to hit a cinema this year.

This is the release date previously occupied by Escape Room 2, another Sony film, which has now been shifted into 2021. A specific release date for this sequel has not been announced.
