Near-future Call of Duty teased

Video on Call of Duty official website points to future setting for next entry in shooter series; might include remote-controlled quadrotor drone.

The next Call of Duty game--believed to be Black Ops 2--may be set in the near future. The official Call of Duty website links to a humorous FPS Russia YouTube video, which focuses on the futuristic flying quadrotor RC drone weapon, teased for inclusion in an upcoming Call of Duty game.

The prototype weapon is controlled remotely, and as displayed in the video, is capable of firing upon enemies via a mounted machine gun. Operators control the device with a tablet, which grants the user a bird's-eye view of terrain.

"Looks like the future's going to be fun," the presenter said. "But if you can't wait another 15 years, my friends are telling me that this baby might just be in the next Call of Duty game, which would be the s**t."

Several reports have suggested that the next installment in the Call of Duty series will be Black Ops 2. The original Black Ops was set during the Cold War era and had players visiting real-world locations like the Pentagon, Arctic Circle, and Vietnam. Gamers also met up with numerous historical figures in that game like Robert McNamara, Fidel Castro, and John F. Kennedy.

A new Call of Duty game will be unveiled on May 1 during the NBA playoffs on TNT.
