NECA Gargoyles Goliath Review

To say that NECA has done it again would be an understatement. They are consistent in their output and while everytime I get a NECA figure I worry that I have too many…I see the next one that I want I realize you can’t have enough. Not to mention the countless amazing figures that I’ve passed on that I’ll probably regret forever. However, the moment this figure was announced I knew it had to be mine.

This figure is obviously more of an interpretation than a direct translation but as always the essence of the character is captured perfectly and enhanced. The sculpt and scale make him a worthy addition to any collection whether you’re a Gargoyles fan or not. I find myself more of a fan of the figure than the character itself.

My nostalgia for Goliath as a character isn’t something that really drove my interest in the figure. I remember liking the show but found it too mature for me when I was kid. I did have a Goliath figure growing up but only because it was a cool figure. Plus it hardly counts as it was a prize won in a Peter Piper in Mexico which was 100% a bootleg because he was loose and the color red.

While he doesn’t come with a lot of accessories his wings and size definitely make him a deluxe figure. The wings have good texture and a really massive span. They are a bit of a hindrance as they are not as articulated as I would have thought but still look and work well. Both face portraits are perfect making it difficult to choose how to display. Multiple hands that can add to his poses as well as function with the other accessories. The book I remember from the show but he also comes with a pepper that has me baffled. This of course just motivates me to want to watch the show.

I don’t know which sports metaphor I might have used in a previous NECA figure review so I’ll just call this figure a home dunk! I recently put some stuff in storage to make room on my shelves so things don’t look as cluttered but there’s no way I’m not putting him proudly on display. He’s amazing! As with all NECA figures recently the credits are listed on the box and I love that. Wish all companies did that. Great work guys!

This figure was sent to me for review by the wonderful people over at Fun.com, and the timing could not have been more perfect. He is hard to find in stores and I think I’ve only ever seen him in Target twice. None of my local spots can order him from NECA currently so if you’re still looking you are in luck, you can pick him up right Here.

Go get him while you can, he’s worth it!!
