Netflix’s New Black Lives Matter Playlist Has Launched, Focused On Black American Lives

Netflix has launched a new Black Lives Matter playlist in the wake of the murder of George Floyd. The list, which is available to all subscribers globally, focuses on Black storytelling.

In a statement on Twitter, Netflix said that it is "highlighting powerful and complex narratives about the Black experience." The list includes many Netflix originals, such as Mudbound, Barry (the Obama biopic), Rodney King, 13th, When They See Us, and Trigger Warning with Killer Mike.

Netflix has also released some documentary titles for free on YouTube, including Zion, Strong Island, and the Academy Award nominated 13th.

There are some shortcomings, though--the list is focused entirely on American narratives. Accessing the list here in Australia, you're greeted with a thin 42 titles--none of which feature Indigenous Australians. It's an unfortunate oversight on what is otherwise a good initiative.
