New Destiny Hoverbike Lets You Do Sweet Freestyle Tricks

A new and improved Sparrow hoverbike is coming to Destiny, publisher Activision and developer Bungie announced today. The special vehicle is called the EV-30 Tumbler Sparrow, and it's available starting today for select Guardians.

Unlike the standard issue Sparrow, the EV-30 drives faster and can take flight. Riders can also perform mid-air tricks, as you can see in the dubstep-powered trailer above.

The EV-30 Sparrow

"The EV-30 Tumbler features advanced modifications that bypass standard safety systems, disabling the stabilization and gyroscopic-force dampeners designed to keep you grounded," Bungie wrote on its website, also calling out its slick paint job.

The special Sparrow is available in Destiny right now for players who have purchased the game's $35 Destiny DLC pass. If that's you, all you need to do is visit the Postmaster to redeem your EV-30. The vehicle will unlock for people who buy Destiny's first DLC--The Dark Below--when the expansion launches December 9.

The EV-30 is only available for a limited time. You'll need to buy the Destiny DLC pass or The Dark Below by January 15, 2015 to receive it for free. It's unclear if the EV-30 will be offered as a paid download later on, but we'd have to imagine that will be the case.

In other Destiny-related news, Bungie has released a free demo for the game across all platforms.

Destiny launched in September, and has 9.5 million registered users by Activision's latest count. In addition to The Dark Below, Bungie will release another expansion--House of Wolves--later on in 2015. On top of that, we now know the studio is working on a full-on Destiny sequel.
