New On Peacock In January 2023: Poker Face, The Traitors

December is already more than half gone, and January is not far away. A new month ahead also means a whole new slate of shows and movies to watch on HBO Max. Some of that content will be available on January 1, while other shows and movies will be available a little later next month. For more, check out our similar January 2023 rundowns for HBO Max, Hulu, Prime Video, and Disney+.

On January 26, Rian Johnson's (Knives Out, The Last Jedi) mystery-of-the-week series Poker Face finally makes its debut with a four-episode premiere. Natasha Lyonne (Russian Doll, Orange Is the New Black) stars as Charlie Cale, who, according to a synopsis "has an extraordinary ability to determine when someone is lying. She hits the road with her Plymouth Barracuda and with every stop encounters a new cast of characters and strange crimes she can’t help but solve." Lyonne will be joined by an impressive group of guest stars that include Adrien Brody, Chloë Sevigny, Ellen Barkin, Hong Chau, Jasmine Aiyana Garvin, Jameela Jamil, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Judith Light, Nick Nolte, Rhea Perlman, Ron Perlman, S. Epatha Merkerson, Stephanie Hsu, Tim Blake Nelson, and Tim Meadows.

Also worth a look is The Traitors on January 12. It's a competition series, but a little different, as Alan Cumming (The Good Fight, Schmigadoon!) "plays host to 20 larger-than-life personalities (including reality A-listers and America's best game players) who come together to complete a series of challenges with the objective of earning a cash prize of up to $250,000. The catch? Three of the contestants coined 'the traitors' will devise a plan to steal the prize from the other contestants coined 'the faithful.'" It's a competition series, filled with plot twists, "murder" plots, and seasoned reality personalities working with genre newcomers.
