New Song: Alanis Morissette, ‘Guardian’

AHHHH/ZOMG/OMG! Alanis Morissette is back, and I'm flipping out. I've been sooo down for Alanis ever since "You Oughta Know" inspired me to break up with my sixth-grade boyfriend (thanks!), so I'm counting down the days until the release of Alanis' new album, Havoc And Bright Lights. But thankfully today we get our hands (ears?) on the first single, "Guardian."

Listen to Alanis Morissette's "Guardian" after the jump.

Slated to appear as the first single on Alanis' forthcoming Havoc And Bright Lights, "Guardian" is a bright and uptempo record that basically proves Alanis will ride or die for the one she loves: "I’ll be your keeper for life as your guardian/ I’ll be your warrior of care, your first warden/ I’ll be your angel on call, I’ll be on demand/ The greatest honor of all, as your guardian." The song sports some fresh production but still maintains Alanis' signature guitar-driven pop flavor while leaving ample room for her pipes to shine. Though there's no word on the inspiration behind the song, we can't help but think that it may be about Ever Imre, Alanis' adorable baby boy.

Wow, girl has certainly come a long way from singing about Dave Coulier a crappy breakup. Thanks, now I feel old.
