Beyoncé and Andre 3000 covered Amy Winehouse's "Back To Black" for "The Great Gatsby" soundtrack.

Beyoncé and Andre 3000 teaming up to cover Amy Winehouse's "Back To Black"? Sounds like the recipe for surefire internet acclaim, right? But the song, which premiered over the weekend on Mark Ronson's radio program, has been less than positively reviewed pretty much across the board. It can't be all that bad, can it? What's the big deal?

The cover, which will appear on the upcoming "Great Gatsby" film soundtrack along with tracks from Gotye, Florence & The Machine, Lana Del Rey, and others, slows down the already slow-moving number into an almost glacial pace. It's a bit of a stark contrast from the depth of feeling Winehouse imbued in the original, most critics are saying, but that detachment is likely by design. Among the critics are the late Winehouse's father, Mitch, who said of Beyoncé's contribution, "I don't think she brings anything to it."

Ronson, who recorded and produced the 2006 song with Winehouse was more accepting in introducing it. "It's a wonderful syzrrup take on our song. I'm flattered and honored. I know Amy would be too."

The truth is somewhere in the middle. While it's certainly a unique take that pulls away from what made a lot of fans fall for the song in the first place, that's the point of a cover song anyway, right? If we wanted to hear the original, it's still there for us to listen to.
