New Song: Bruno Mars, ‘Locked Out Of Heaven’

Bruno Mars' new song "Locked Out Of Heaven" is a smash, in case you were wondering.

There's been a lot of Bruno Mars action as of late, but when has that ever been a bad thing? Exactly. Never. The Playboy Bunnies' pal recently announced that his forthcoming disc, Unorthodox Jukebox, would drop Dec. 11 AND that he'll be the host and musical guest on "Saturday Night Live" on October 20. Bruno's SNL gig will also mark the first live performance of his extremely new single, "Locked Out Of Heaven," the studio version of which (you're so welcome, by the way!) we've got for you RIGHT NOW. And it's amazing. No need to send me chocolates, by the way -- I'm trying to watch my sugar intake.

Listen to Bruno Mars' "Locked Out Of Heaven" after the jump.

"Locked Out Of Heaven" has the emotional urgency of Bruno's "It Will Rain" mixed with "Grenade"'s pop undercurrents, plus it has to be said: We're seriously reminded of The Police's "Message In A Bottle" -- just 'cause we think Bruno is sounding a LOT like Sting. It can't be ignored. And then there are grunts! AND THE SEX!

Set to a guitar-driven track, Bruno pines for the object of his infatuation: "You bring me to my knees/ You make me testify.../ 'Cause you make feel like/ I've been locked out of heaven/ For too long, for too long." If you're looking for the Reader's Digest version of Bruno's new song, then all we'll say is this: If your significant other is trying to break up with you, just tell them "they make you feel like you've been locked out of heaven for too long," and we guarantee you'll lock down that wedding in under six months. Massive line, Bruno! Well played.
