New Video: Tamar Kaprelian, ‘California’

Tamar Kaprelian's "California" video has us trolling Craigslist for sublets in L.A.

"California," the lead single off singer-songwriter Tamar Kaprelian's new EP of the same name, is a sun-soaked song shot through with summery wistfulness. In the brand-new video, Tamar takes a quintessential top-down drive in a vintage convertible, strolls through an abandoned field, wind in her hair, and cools off with an afternoon dip in the type of pool that could only exist in -- yep -- California, all while trying to convince a dude to join her out West.

Some more adorable dresses -- and a CRUCIAL harmonica break -- later, the clip comes to a close with the sun setting on Tamar, who's still en route to Cali, sans companion. It's a picture-perfect postcard of the Golden State, which she recently left to study at Columbia University in New York. (Beauty and brains. Sigh.)

In her own words: "It’s about trying to lure someone to move somewhere for you because you’re in love with them, and what better place to live than a place that’s always beautiful, always sunny, and always puts you in a great mood.” We couldn't agree more, which brings us to our next question: DUDE?!!! What's the issue here? A pretty and talented chick asks you to move cross-country with her, YOU JUST DO IT. (Also, remind us again why we live in New York? Because Palm Springs looks legit.)
