New Video: The Used, ‘Put Me Out’

The Used

Watch the Used's smokin' new "Put Me Out" video.

Butts are gross. No, silly, not like J. Lo's. The Used's new video for "Put Me Out" follows the adventures of a put upon dude in a cigarette costume, who gets punched, frisbee'd, and generally bullied as he makes his way to see the Used in concert. Pretty sure having burritos thrown at you could be the smartest/guac-iest anti-drug PSA ever, but Mr. Cig is welcomed at the Used's performance, straps on a guitar, and throws down with the band's smoking hard rock riffage. When describing the video, frontman Bert McCracken told Fuse,  "When I am at a rock show, I am able to simply be myself. Plus, sometimes we all feel like a cigarette." What, like being the butt of every joke?? WOMP-WOMP.

It's a hot metaphor for love gone wrong in the band's gritty new track, which finds McCracken wailing, "I gave you everything, you threw it away/ Put me out like a cigarette, out like a cigarette," on the heavy hook. The track's the latest from the busy band, who dropped new album Vulnerable in March before burning up the Warped Tour (with photo evidence!). The band is currently headlining its own U.S. gigs with guests Twin Atlantic and Stars in Stereo -- at venues with smoking patios, no doubt. Watch this one while you eat a kale salad.
