No new EA Star Wars game until after March 2014

Electronic Arts says first games from DICE and Visceral not expected for more than a year.

Gamers excited about the new Star Wars games from Battlefield studio DICE and Dead Space developer Visceral Games may want to get comfortable.

During a post-earnings financial call today, Electronic Arts chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen said the firm will not publish any new Star Wars games during the company's fiscal 2014, which runs April 1, 2013 through March 31, 2014.

EA yesterday announced a deal with The Walt Disney Company that will make EA the exclusive developer of "core" Star Wars games. These games will be delivered on "all interactive platforms" and will run on the Frostbite 3 game engine.

No story or gameplay details about any of the new Star Wars projects have been divulged thus far.

Though there will not be any new Star Wars games in fiscal 2014, EA said today that it will release 11 major titles in the year (compared to 13 last year) and 15 mobile titles for iOS and Android. These were not specified.
