Despite the decided lack of pot brownies and milkshakes, the 2012 MTV Movie Awards was a coming-out party for the ages for "Perks of Being a Wallflower."

Castmembers Logan Lerman, Emma Watson and Ezra Miller were on hand for the first time as a cast to debut the trailer for their upcoming adaptation, based on Stephen Chbosky's 1999 novel (published by MTV Books).

"Perks" follows introverted high school freshman Charlie (Lerman), who slowly emerges from his insular world with the help of seniors Sam (Watson) and Patrick (Miller).

The first look is full of pivotal moments familiar to fans of the novel, including Charlie's first-ever party, the bloody cafeteria brawl and goose-bump-inducing tunnel scene. But, of course, there were also plenty of things we didn't get a glimpse at, so we've compiled our list of moments we're still lusting after. (Spoilers ahead if you haven't read the book!)

First Meeting
In one of the trailer's more lighthearted moments, we see Charlie attend a high school football game with enthusiastic Patrick. ("Be aggressive! Passive aggressive!") What we don't see, however, is when, moments later, Charlie's soon-to-be crush (and Patrick's stepsister) introduces herself to Charlie. It's simple (no cheesy meet-cute here!), but pivotal nonetheless.

The Gift
With the help of his English teacher (Paul Rudd), Charlie discovers a love of writing, and he thinks he might want to be a writer when he grows up. But what's a writer without something to write on? Hence, the heartfelt Christmas gift of a typewriter (it is the '90s, after all) from Sam, who isn't even his secret Santa!

The Other Girl
Despite being a wallflower, Charlie seems to attract his fair share of attention from the ladies. Though his unrequited love for Sam still burns bright, he accidentally falls into his first relationship with another girl — the eccentric Mary Elizabeth (Mae Whitman). The pair's dynamic is uneven at best, and their awkward encounters provide a bit of levity to the narrative.

The Kiss
It isn't their first (Sam gives Charlie his first smooch earlier in the story), but it is their most intense. As the two discuss the nature of love ("We accept the love we think we deserve," Charlie tells Sam), the pair finally disclose their true feelings for each other, which leads to a steamy, yet ultimately distressing moment in Sam's room, which Lerman didn't seem to mind. "It happened in front of a crew, and people were there, and we did it a few times. And that was it," Lerman told MTV News at the Movie Awards. "It's kind of odd when you're doing it for a movie. It's kind of weird. She's cool. It wasn't as awkward as it could have been. It's Emma Watson, so I'm a lucky guy."

Nina Dobrev
"Perks" boasts a stellar supporting cast, including Dylan McDermott and Kate Walsh, but we're eager to see more of "Vampire Diaries" star Nina Dobrev, who had a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment in the trailer. Dobrev plays Charlie's older sister Candace, who's hiding her own secret about her boyfriend, and we're itching to see what she does with the role.

Jaw-dropping, heart-pounding, gut-busting moments galore. See what went down at the 21st annual MTV Movie Awards!
