Pixar Employees Are Unhappy With Luca Going To Disney Plus – Report

The upcoming Pixar movie Luca will be the latest movie from the animation studio to skip theaters entirely and be released directly to Disney+. Now several Pixar employees have spoken about their unhappiness with parent company Disney's decision to send the movies directly to streaming.

Insider spoke to "several Pixar sources" about how frustration was growing within the studio about Disney's plans for Luca, which follows last year's Disney+ releases of Soul and Onward. Insider states that Pixar staff would only speak anonymously, and Disney has not commented on the report.

One employee commented on the fact although Luca will be available on Disney+ at no extra cost when it releases in June, March's Disney+ release Raya and Last Dragon had an additional cost. "Luca doesn't even have a premium price next to it," the source said. "Does it make it lesser? It's hard to grasp."
