Pop Culture and Comic Convention Returns to Pleasanton

 

October 4th, 2021, PLEASANTON, CALIF., — Powerhouse Comic Con, East Bay’s pop culture and comic convention, returns to the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton to celebrate the 55th anniversary of Ultraman and brings entertainment for fans of all ages.

This year the convention celebrates the 55th anniversary of Ultraman, a Japanese tokusatsu science fiction television series, with a special guest appearance of Dore Kraus who is well known for his role as Jack Shindo, the human host of Ultraman Great, in Ultraman: Towards the Future (1990).

 

Dore Kraus will be joined by Linda Miller who enjoyed a successful career as a model and an actress and is best known for her starring role in King Kong Escapes (1967). Widely distributed in the USA and throughout the world, the Toho sci-fi film cemented Linda’s place in popular culture as she joined the prestigious ranks of King Kong’s cinematic leading ladies.

 

Also appearing at Powerhouse Comic Con is Carl Craig. At age 10, Carl Craig lived the dream of starring in a Japanese giant monster movie, playing the role of Jim Morgan, the all-American boy scout who helps GAMERA thwart an alien invasion from the planet Viras in 1968’s Destroy All Planets, also known as Gamera vs. Viras.

 

Star Wars fans will have a rare chance to meet Kyle Pacek who played both Bounty Hunter and Jawa on the hit TV series The Mandalorian. Kyle also returns to the Star Wars universe in the upcoming The Book of Boba Fett scheduled to be released this December.

 

From the classic TV era comes actress Charlotte Stewart who is beloved by Little House on the Prairie fans around the world as school teacher Miss Eva Beadle. Charlotte Stewart’s acting career spans 50 years and includes working with David Lynch on Esaderhead and the TV show Twin Peaks.

 

Celebrity guest line at Powerhouse Comic Con also includes Jon Provost, best-known as Timmy on the hit TV show Lassie, Hollywood historian and author Laurie Jacobson, horror TV show host Lord Blood-Rah, and renowned comic book artists Walden Wong (Black Panther, Deadpool), Luis Rivera (The Mis-Adventures of Adam West), Warren Montgomery (John Kirby: Firefox), Lory De Vera (Cowboy), Peter Secosh (Elvira, Nocturnals), and Team Colossus artist Blake Coker.

 

The show also features local artists, comic books, toy and anime vendors, celebrity panels, games, trick-or-treat for the little ones, and a cosplay contest with a grand cash prize of $200.

 

The event is open from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday, October 9th, 2021, at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, CA. Tickets are $11 online, $17 at the door, family pack (admit 4) is $35 and is available online only. Kids 12 and under are free with a paid adult.
