Rayman Legends gets console-specific preorder bonuses

Publisher cross-promotion dresses Rayman as other Ubisoft characters.

Ubisoft has announced console-specific preorder bonuses for upcoming platformer Rayman Legends.

Wii U owners will get a skin of Assassin's Creed III: Liberation's Aveline De Grandpré for Rayman Legends co-star Barbara. PlayStation 3 owners will get to fashion Rayman in the garb of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag protagonist Edward Kenway, and Xbox 360 owners will get to dress their Rayman as if he was Splinter Cell's Sam Fisher, complete with iconic night vision goggles.

The preorder skins will be available exclusively from GameStop in the US, and Game in the UK.

Ubisoft has also unveiled details on Rayman Legends' "20,000 Lums under the Sea" world, an ocean setting that will feature stealth elements and allow players to manipulate the light and darkness of its levels.

Rayman Legends was scheduled to be released exclusively on the Wii U in February 2013, but was pushed back to September to make way for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the title. News of the delay caused some of the game's developers to protest outside Ubisoft Montpellier's offices, though Ubisoft later said the extra time has allowed for the creation of 30 new levels.

Rayman Legends will be released in North America on September 3, and in Europe on August 30.
