In February 2017, Salt Lake Comic Con named the Humane Society of Utah its official charity for 2017. The Humane Society of Utah welcomes every animal that they can legally accept and is dedicated to the elimination of pain, fear and suffering in all animals. Since 1960, the Humane Society of Utah has been sheltering abandoned animals, fighting cruelty and neglect, and creating an environment of respect, responsibility, and compassion for all animals across the state of Utah. The Humane Society of Utah is an open-admissions “no-kill” shelter that will save the lives of over 11,000 animals this year alone.

Salt Lake Gaming Con 2017 will feature a number of game playing activities for attendees, including video games, board games, e-sports and gaming tournaments and competitions. Gaming competitions include Injustice 2, Warhammer 40K, War Machine & Hordes and Overwatch Tournaments to name a few.

In addition to game playing, fans can also interact with gaming celebrities such as Ed Fries, Jennifer Hale, Steve Blum, Anjali Bhimani, Josh Petersdorf and Feodor Chin. This year’s event will also feature a number of new activities for the entire family such as a Mystery Escape Room, WizKids, USS White Buffalo, Dart Gun Zone, Live-Action “Super Kart Racing,” a Board Game Library and a Cosplay Contest.

“We always want to be involved in our community and support causes that do good work and mean a lot to our fans and partners,” said Dan Farr, Salt Lake Comic Con Founder and Show Producer. “The Humane Society of Utah does wonderful work and we’re confident that as always our fans will support this effort and help us provide much needed money and resources for our animal friends and the heroes that work so tirelessly to find them loving homes.”

“Our goal for 2017 is to save 11,500 animal lives, and so far, with the support of partners like Salt Lake Comic Con we’re at 44 percent of that goal,” said Deann Shepherd, Marketing Manager with the Humane Society of Utah. “We appreciate the partnership we have with Salt Lake Comic Con and the heroes in our community that help us not only keep our doors open at all times but help us place more than 90 percent of the animals we receive every year.”
