According to the official Ubisoft blog, the 26 half-hour episode series will be available on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, PlayStation Store, Samsung Media Hub, and Vudu on August 4.

Lego movie game coming to Xbox One, PS4

The Lego Movie Videogame launching in 2014 for current- and next-generation consoles, as well as Wii U, PC, 3DS, and PS Vita.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and TT Games today announced The Lego Movie Videogame, due to launch in 2014 alongside the film for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PC, 3DS, and PlayStation Vita.

The Lego Movie Videogame, like the movie, follows Emmet, a "perfectly average" Lego minifigure who is "mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world." Players will guide him on his quest to stop an evil tyrant.

In the game, players can collect and use various Lego instruction pages to build construction sets or wield the power of the "Master Builders" to create new objects. More than 90 characters will be included in the game, which is spread across 15 levels.

The Lego Movie hits theaters in February 2014 with Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation, Zero Dark Thirty) voicing Emmet.

The movie boasts a suite of Hollywood veterans, including Morgan Freeman (The Shawshank Redemption, The Sum of All Fears), Liam Neeson (Schindler's List, Batman Begins), and Will Ferrell (Anchorman, Zoolander).

It is unclear if Pratt and the rest of the film's voice cast will lend their voices to The Lego Movie Videogame. A Warner Bros. representative was not immediately available to comment.

Bethesda on Wii U support — “We will see”

Marketing VP at Elder Scrolls, Fallout studio confirms no games in development for Nintendo's latest due to "a number of factors."

Fallout and Elder Scrolls publisher Bethesda has confirmed in a new interview that due to numerous factors, the company--at least right now--has no games in development for the Wii U.

"It's a number of factors," marketing VP Pete Hines told MCV in response to a question asking what the Wii U needs to do to get Bethesda on board.

"The truth is, it's not something that we are currently developing for. I don't know whether that changes down the road or not," he added. "It depends on the games that we are making and how we think it aligns with that console, and how the hardware aligns with the other stuff we are making. We will see."

Some of Bethesda's biggest upcoming games include The Elder Scrolls Online, The Evil Within, and Wolfenstein: The New Order.

The Wii U has sold 3.45 million units worldwide to date, below Nintendo's expectations for the platform. The company hopes to spur sales--and in turn third-party interest in the system--by launching marquee first-party titles like Pikmin 3 (August), Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (November), and Super Mario 3D World (December) this year.

High-profile first-party Wii U games on schedule for next year include Mario Kart 8 and an untitled Super Smash Bros. title, among others.

Final Dishonored DLC out August 13

The Brigmore Witches launching next month on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC for $10.

Bethesda announced today that the final downloadable content for Dishonored--titled The Brigmore Witches--will launch next month. The content will be available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Steam for $10 on August 13, followed by a PS3 European release August 14.

In The Brigmore Witches, players continue their journey as assassin Daud and will bring the "twisted narrative" that began with The Knife of Dunwall (April) to a close.

"After discovering the identity and intentions of Delilah, the leader of the Brigmore Witch coven, you set out to disrupt her from completing a powerful ritual that will spell your doom," reads a line from the content's description.

"Having already been betrayed by your lieutenant, Billie Lurk, you must rely on feuding gang factions--the Dead Eels and the Hatters--to negotiate your way through previously unseen districts of Dunwall en route to Delilah’s stronghold."

Players' power, weapon, item upgrades, chaos level, and actions from The Knife of Dunwall will carry over to The Brigmore Witches through a save file option.

The first DLC pack for Dishonored was December's Dunwall City Trials, which introduced 10 new challenge maps to the game.

DLC for Dishonored may be coming to an end, but the franchise could continue. Bethesda said in November that the game sold beyond internal expectations, making future installments likely.

Sony tested PS4 controller that could detect sweat

Lead system architect Mark Cerny reveals Sony tested a DualShock 4 controller that could measure a player's galvanic skin response.

Sony tested a PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 controller that could detect stress and sweat levels, lead system architect Mark Cerny has told Stuff.tv.

The scientific term, galvanic skin response, is a measure of how conductive a person's skin is at any moment, which fluctuates depending on how much a person is sweating.

"We had a long research project where we looked at pretty much any idea we could think of," Cerny said. "Would it help to measure the galvanic response of the skin? We tried out a tremendous number of things--and then we went to the game teams to ask them what they thought they could use from the controller."

Cerny's revelation confirms past reports that suggested Sony was testing biometric sensors for the DualShock 4.

A stress-sensing sensor is not featured in the final DualShock 4 design, though the pad does include a touchpad and various other updates over the DualShock 3. Cerny explained that his team ultimately wanted to build a controller that would be better suited for first-person shooters.

"Historically, we have heard many times that our controllers have not been ideal for first-person shooters," Cerny said. "So we wanted to make sure we had something that would be much better for that genre. We tested the throw of the triggers, the position of the triggers, how much pressure it takes. We looked at the joysticks, the dead spot, we looked at convexity and concavity."

Cerny said the final result is a controller that "feels extraordinarily natural."

"I haven't heard a negative comment about it yet," Cerny said. "For a controller with a very different form factor that was just amazing to see."

The PS4 launches this holiday season for $400.

Analyst: The Last of Us sales hit 700,000 in US

Cowen & Company predicts Sony's PS3 title sold through 700,000 units in June, while 3DS game Animal Crossing: New Leaf reached 500,000 copies.

The Last of Us sold 700,000 units in June in the United States, while Animal Crossing: New Leaf shifted 500,000 copies, according to a note released today from Cowen & Company's Doug Creutz.

No other new release sold more than 100,000 units during the month, he said.

Sony announced earlier this month that The Last of Us had shipped 3.4 million copies worldwide since its launch on June 14. Sales of that level make the game the fastest-selling new software franchise in the history of the PlayStation and the fastest-selling PlayStation 3 title of 2013 thus far.

Creutz's note to investors comes two days before the NPD Group releases sales data for June. The analyst predicted total software sales will slide 23 percent for the month. All major publishers will post negative comparable figures for the month, he said, including Activision Blizzard (-42 percent), Electronic Arts (-26 percent), and Take-Two (-41 percent).

These double-digit declines will continue through July, before turning positive beginning in August thanks to the early release of Madden NFL 25, Creutz argued. Further growth is expected to be posted in September and October, due in part to high-profile releases like Grand Theft Auto V (September 17) and Battlefield 4 (October 29).

"We are getting increasingly positive on the potential for software sales to finish the year in positive territory due to obviously robust demand for next-gen consoles and what should be robust initial software attach rates, as well as the potential for Nintendo's comps to get 'less bad' due to a torrent of product coming out between August and December," Creutz said.

KOTOR team making new IP at BioWare

Mass Effect producer Casey Hudson says the "core team" that worked on 2003 RPG is handling development of new IP at Edmonton division.

BioWare Edmonton's all-new franchise is being developed by most of the "core team" that built 2003's Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect series producer Casey Hudson has revealed.

"Most of our core team that worked on SWKOTOR has been together throughout the Mass Effect series, and now our new IP project," Hudson said on Twitter (via VG247).

Specifics about the project have not been divulged, but BioWare Edmonton senior producer Jonathan Warner recently said that he has been pleased with its development.

"A successful first project review for our new IP project today. Life is good!" Warner said yesterday.

BioWare announced this new project in September, saying the game is being built from the ground up running on "new gaming technology," potentially referencing the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

During PAX East 2013, Hudson said he hopes this project can match the trajectory of the Mass Effect series.

"That's kind of our next thing. We're focusing on delivering something new, the way we did at the very beginning of Mass Effect," Hudson said at the time.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic recently marked its 10th anniversary. To mark the anniversary, Aspyr Media brought the game to iOS devices in late May.

BioWare: Next Mass Effect will appeal to longtime fans and newcomers

Developer talks accessibility for upcoming game, says "no reason to believe" multiple gender options and GLBTI-inclusive stories won't return.

The next Mass Effect game will appeal to seasoned fans and newcomers alike, developer BioWare has said.

Speaking on Twitter (via VG247), BioWare Montreal studio director Yanick Roy said it is "too soon to say" if the Mass Effect Genesis system would return for the new game.

"But we'll be sure to be friendly both to old fans and to newcomers," Roy said.

Roy also responded to a question regarding whether or not the new Mass Effect game will retain the franchise's open-mindedness when it comes to gender options and GLBTI-inclusive stories.

"There is no reason to believe otherwise at this point, don't worry!" Roy said.

BioWare announced the next Mass Effect game last September. It will not feature Commander Shepard, as his story came to a close in last year's Mass Effect 3.

The untitled game will run on the Frostbite 3 engine and, according to executive producer Casey Hudson, will be "fresh and new."

Call of Duty: Ghosts multiplayer reveal next month

Infinity Ward targeting middle of August to show off multiplayer footage for next-generation Call of Duty title.

Infinity Ward will reveal the multiplayer component for Call of Duty: Ghosts in August, executive producer Mark Rubin has said on Twitter (via Videogamer).

"Sorry I haven't been on Twitter much lately. We are in our death march push to finish game. Lots left to do. Looking forward to [multiplayer] in August," he said.

Pressed for a specific period in August, Rubin said, "Middle."

A middle-of-August reveal would match up with this year's Gamescom, which takes place in Cologne, Germany, August 21-25.

Activision has previously revealed that Call of Duty: Ghosts will feature second-screen support for the game's multiplayer component, though specifics have not been divulged.

Call of Duty: Ghosts arrives November 5 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. The game is also in development for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, though release dates have not been announced.

American Idol winner places 257th at EVO Smash Bros. event

Taylor Hicks ties for 257th place during Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament last weekend.

Taylor Hicks, who won the fifth season of American Idol in 2006, tied for 257th place during the Super Smash Bros. Melee event at last weekend's EVO, it has been revealed.

Sony Santa Monica designer and longtime fighting game figure Seth Killian snapped a photo of Hicks (at right) during the tournament.

Nearly 700 players took part in the Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament, meaning Hicks finished better than most.

The Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament at EVO this year was in question. Just days before the event, organizers revealed that Nintendo attempted to block the entire tournament.

"It's their IP, they can do what they want," EVO founder Joey Cuellar said last week.

Nintendo would ultimately allow the tournament to go on and for it to be streamed. This year's EVO drew a record 1.7 million unique viewers through Twitch, 134,000 of which watched the Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament.

An all-new Super Smash Bros. game will launch for the Wii U and 3DS next year.
