SF Landmark “Jeffery’s Toys” To Close Doors Over Rent Increase

San Fransisco toy store “Jeffery’s Toys” a downtown landmark (located at 685 Market) that has been in business 60 years will be closing their doors soon because of an unreasonable rent increase.  The toy store that has been in the family for three generations will be closing in a months time as their rent was increased to $40,000 a month by the new building owner.

This mom and pop toy store, that doesn’t even have a website or sell any electronic toys,  was given a year long reprieve/extension to their current lease last year, as the new building owner was trying to figure out what to do next, but as the report states below, they were not able to reach a new agreement and cannot pay the increased rent rate.   Jeffery’s is currently running a 20% off sale until they close.
