Sleigh Bells Covered Beyonce, We Hope There’s More Where This Came From

Listen to Sleigh Bells' sweet cover of Beyoncé's 'Irreplaceable.'

We're used to hearing Sleigh Bells' Alexis Krauss shred and wail and rage and do all the other cool things that pretty, leather-clad noise pop singers do so well (see: "Comeback Kid"). So when she brought it down a notch and a half for Sleigh Bells' sweet cover of Beyoncé's "Irreplaceable," we got all starry-eyed. And we agree wholeheartedly with one comment on the SoundCloud where the song is posted: "alexis krauss marry me bb."

It's a fairly traditional rendition of the song -- Alexis' sugary vocals are lovingly laid over Derek Miller's gentle riffs. But Sleigh Bells' version of "Irreplaceable" actually takes on a more melancholy tone than Beyoncé's original sass-tastic version. When Alexis sings, "Everything you own in a box to the left," you're kind of more like "Aww, I'll miss you" than "DAT'S RIGHT, GTFO." Regardless, the song works both ways -- turns out Bey and Ne-Yo make a pretty flawless songwriting team.
