Song Preview: Madonna, ‘Superstar’

The recent deluge of snippets from Madonna's forthcoming album, MDNA, has us feelin' like this may be one of the Queen of Pop's finest releases yet (and HOLLA to those new MDNA photos, too). The latest bit of evidence? A minute-long snippet for album track "Superstar," which, if our instincts are right, we'll be singing and dancing along to all summer long. And probably for the next 10 summers. Because it's pretty much the sparkliest, shimmeriest, summeriest track EV-AH. Best of all, "Superstar" is a family affair -- because Madonna's 15-year-old fashionista daughter, Lourdes, even sings some background vocals on the track (!!!!!!). (Sidenote: We could live for a thousand years and never be as cool as Lourdes already is at age 15. Sigh.)

Listen to a preview of Madonna's "Superstar" after the jump.

Continuing with the trend of spunky upbeat club tracks as evidenced by the cheerleader pep of "Give Me All Your Luvin'" and dubby pop of "I'm Addicted," "Superstar" sees Madonna reeling off a deliciously head-spinning string of historical allusions over lush layers of "Ooh la las." There Professor Madonna goes again, teachin' us a thing or two about history! "You're my gangster, you're like Al Capone/ You're like Caesar, stepping onto the throne/ You're Abe Lincoln, cause you fight for what's right/ You're my angel, bringing peace to my life." Gangsters and angels? Someone's been watching "Dance Moms"!

With ebullient synths and sweetly sentimental vocals, "Superstar" is a luminously gorgeous addition to the growing catalog of major Madge tracks. Get us a convertible and some California sunshine stat so we can drive off into the distance with this on full blast. Ooh la la, indeed!
