Sons of Anarchy game hitting consoles

Series creator Kurt Sutter says plans for browser-based game scrapped in favor of a "real" title for consoles, even though that "may take a while."

Those eager to see FX's violent biker drama Sons of Anarchy spun into a console game are in luck. Series creator Kurt Sutter offered an update on the project today on Twitter, saying plans for a browser-based game have been put aside in favor of a "real" game for consoles.

"[Sons of Anarchy] game update. Had a great meeting with a big distributor yesterday. Myself and everyone at FX and Fox is committed to making this happen," he said. "Yes, we definitely wanna do a real game. Console based. Not some slapcrap browser MP thing. It'll take awhile, but it's the right way to go."

The Sons of Anarchy game appears to be in a preliminary stage of development, and no firm details are available. One thing Sutter did say about the game was that the project will appeal to female players. Responding to a tweet, he said, "The [Sons of Anarchy] game will definitely appeal to women gamers as well. Nothing hotter than a girl with a controller in her hands."

Whatever form the Sons of Anarchy game does take, it is unlikely to resemble Telltale Games' new Walking Dead adventure title. Sutter said he played that game, but found it to feel "rushed and a bit unsatisfactory," suggesting it needed the help of Walking Dead executive producer Glen Mazzara.
