Sony prepping PlayStation Cloud?

Ahead of 2013 PlayStation Meeting, company registers several domain names hinting at cloud-gaming support.

Ahead of Sony's major New York City event tomorrow, the company has registered a series of domain names related to something called PlayStation Cloud. As spotted by Superannuation, the domain names are registered to a Gaikai system administrator and IT manager.

Sony acquired cloud-gaming company Gaikai last year for $380 million to establish a new cloud service combining Gaikai's resources with its own. A new Wall Street Journal report suggests the PlayStation 4 will be backwards compatible, allowing gamers to stream PlayStation 3 titles.

A Sony representative was not immediately available to comment.

Sony is expected to announce the PlayStation 4 tomorrow at its 2013 PlayStation Meeting, beginning at 3 p.m. PST/6 p.m. EST. GameSpot and its sister sites will be in attendance at the event, which will also be live-streamed.
