Sony shows off prototype PS4 headset, charging station

PlayStation maker displays in-development versions of accessories for next-generation platform.

Sony has offered a first look at prototype accessories for the PlayStation 4, including the system's headset, charging station, and stand.

The accessories were on display today on the E3 show floor at Sony's booth.

The charging station is compatible with two DualShock 4 controllers, while the console stand supports the system when positioned vertically. Both peripherals are black, just like the PS4.

The PS4 mono headset features a single earbud, volume control, and a clip to attach to a piece of clothing. All accessories are prototypes and are subject to change, Sony said.

The PlayStation Eye peripheral for the PS4 will retail for $60, though Sony has yet to announce what other add-ons will sell for individually.

The PS4 launches later this year for $399, a full $100 below Microsoft's Xbox One.
