Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was a big hit, but sadly, the next installment has been pushed back a few months. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2's release date is now set for October 7, 2022.

Sony shared the news on Twitter today. It didn't use the precise title above, but it did use the Spider-Verse hashtag.

Originally, the release date for Spider-Verse was set for April 8, 2022, which was revealed in a short video back in November. While Sony hasn't commented on why the movie is being pushed back, it's possible that this is because of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has been delaying movie releases from every studio, including almost every single Marvel Cinematic Universe movie for the next couple of years.
