Statement by Quantum Mechanix Inc

LOS ANGELES — We are deeply saddened to announce that CEO Andy Gore passed away in March.

Quantum Mechanix Inc. (QMx) has lost a visionary and creative genius. The world has lost a truly remarkable human being. Andy’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations through QMx, a revolutionary company that continues to bring groundbreaking design to pop culture collectibles. In an earlier incarnation as editor-in-chief of Macworld, Andy’s insightful coverage of Apple Inc. helped shape the technology we use today. The world is boundlessly better because of Andy.

We are planning a celebration of Andy’s extraordinary life for family, friends and colleagues that will be announced soon. In the meantime, if you would like to share your thoughts, memories and condolences in the interim, you can email rememberandygore@gmail.com.

No words can adequately express our sadness at Andy’s death or our gratitude for the opportunity to work with him. We are honoring his memory as an interim co-executive team continues the work he loved.

Daniel here – On a personal note I ran into and spoke with and even interviewed Andy several times over all my time as a pop culture/collectibles journalist, and I always found him to be a man of deep passion and a stickler for attention to detail.   Our deepest condolences to the team at QMx as well as Andy’s friends and family.
