Stellar Blade – The Best Skills To Get

Stellar Blade pits you against countless abominations known as Naytiba. As you face hordes of hostiles, you might wonder what you can do to survive in battle. Well, the only answer is to keep fighting so you can use Eve's combat prowess. Here's our guide on the best skills in Stellar Blade.

The best skills to get in Stellar Blade

Stellar Blade has five skill trees, each with dozens of perks that you can unlock. We've organized our guide into separate sections to help you pick the ideal options based on our experience.

Skill tree and skill point mechanics

Skill Points (SP) are earned when defeating enemies and completing quests. Each time you reach 100 percent, you gain one SP. The points can then be used to unlock perks in the skill tree.

If you need to reallocate SP, you can use the SP Initializer item. This will reset the selected tree, not just a single node.

Lastly, we should mention that our suggestions below are primarily geared toward survival. Ultimately, choosing the best skills in Stellar Blade boils down to your preference and the playstyle that you're comfortable with.

Attack skill tree

Recommendations: Assault, Ambush, Chain Charge, and Beta Energy Theft.

The vast majority of Eve's combo moves are already unlocked by default. As such, you just need to practice to chain each hit successfully.

For this particular skill tree, though, you'll want the actions that allow you to quickly kill enemies (i.e. Assault and Ambush). If hostiles don't detect you, you can press the Triangle button to swiftly take them out.

Survival skill tree

Recommendations: Almost everything - Blink, Repulse, Double Dodge, Reflex Boost, Focus Boost, Reflection II, Counter II, Beta Energy Recharge I and II.

The best skills in Stellar Blade are those that lean more toward Eve's survival:

  • Blink and Repulse - These help you avoid enemy grab attacks.
  • Reflex Boost, Focus Boost, and Double Dodge - Increase Perfect Parry/Perfect Dodge windows, and allow your character to dodge again.
  • Reflection II and Counter II - These let you do devastating counters after a Perfect Parry or Perfect Dodge. We recommend these since you just need to hold the Triangle button to trigger the follow-up strike.
  • Beta Energy Recharge I and II - These restore a bit of energy whenever you do a Perfect Parry.

Beta skill tree

Recommendations: Triplet (all nodes) and Slash (all nodes).

Beta skills are activated by holding down the L1 button and pressing the corresponding face buttons. Triplet is cast if you press Square, and Slash is cast if you press Triangle. This means either of the two can be activated even if you accidentally press an attack button while blocking (L1).

Even better, Triplet is a frontal attack that does multiple hits, whereas Slash is an area-of-effect (AoE) strike. These can easily bring down most foes that are surrounding Eve.

Burst skill tree

Recommendation: Tempest (all nodes); Descending Break (optional).

The Burst skill tree is unlocked after beating the Stalker boss in the Matrix 11 zone. These abilities use up burst energy, which is different from beta energy. They can be cast by holding down the R1 button and pressing the corresponding face buttons.

In our case, we prefer the Tempest ability above everything else. That's because it causes Eve to do multiple slashes that hit in a wide area, dealing a lot of damage to numerous enemies. One of its upgrade nodes even restores a bit of health.

In any case, these are our recommendations when it comes to the best skills in Stellar Blade. However, keep in mind that there's still one skill tree that remains. Due to major spoilers, we won't be able to discuss it for now but we'll update our article down the line.
