Nicolas Cage is one of America's greatest actors because he puts himself into every film and creates a memorable character in every role. It doesn't matter if it's the horror film Color Out of Space or the action-packed masterpiece Con Air, Cage is going to deliver an unforgettable performance.

Throughout his career, Cage has been in more than 100 movies, and many of them are cultural touchstones, like his brilliant performance in Face/Off, one of history's greatest films. However, Cage has been involved in more than just '90s action movies. He's appeared in dramatic roles, along with some pretty great horror films. Cage does it all, and there's something for everyone in his back catalog.

Cage plays the titular Joe, an ex-con on the path to redemption teamed with a 15-year old boy.

8. Peggy Sue Got Married (1986)

In this movie, Cage plays Charlie Bodell, the husband to the titular Peggy Sue--who has separated from her husband due to his infidelity.

7. Red Rock West (1994)

6. Mandy (2018)

Metacritic score: 81

Mandy got a lot of people talking because the film was a bit more "out there." It follows Red Miller (Cage), a logger who lives with his wife in the woods. A cult kills his wife, which sends Red on a rampage against them. Think John Wick with demons and drugs.

5. Pig (2021)

4. Leaving Las Vegas (1995)

The film follows Ben Sanderson (Cage), an alcoholic screenwriter who lost everything. He goes to Las Vegas with his final paycheck to drink himself to death, but finds a prostitute who needs his help.

3. Moonstruck (1987)

Metacritic score: 83

Cher stars in this film about a woman who is about to get married but falls in love with her fiance's brother--played by Cage.

2. Adaptation. (2002)

Metacritic score: 83

Playing both screenwriters Charlie and Donald Kaufman, Cage pulls double-duty in this film about trying to adapt the nearly unadaptable novel The Orchid Thief--and the movie itself is a very loose adaptation of that real book by Susan Orlean.

1. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)

Metacritic score: 87

Playing Spider-Man Noir, Cage joins a cast of Spider-Men from other Marvel universes, as they work together to stop Kingpin.
