The Super Mario Bros. Movie Could Make $90 Million Or More For Its US Opening

The Super Mario Bros. Movie opens in April, and it's expected to put up big-time numbers at the box office. According to Deadline, the animated film could pull in between $85 million-$90 million in the US from its Wednesday-Sunday launch over the Easter weekend.

Deadline noted that this figure is "on the conservative side," so actual results may be stronger. Box office predictions are never perfect, in any event, but a big result for The Super Mario Bros. film is expected given the star power of the movie and the size of the Mario franchise.

The site said it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for The Super Mario Bros. Movie to make more than $100 million right out of the gate in the US. Early tracking data suggests the movie will perform well with boys and girls under 12, families, and gamers under 25, Deadline reported.
