THQ offers its own Humble Bundle

[UPDATE] THQ offers a Humble THQ Bundle starting from $1; games include Darksiders, Company of Heroes and others; over $2.3 million generated.

[UPDATE] The THQ Humble Bundle has now generated over $2.3 million from more than 420,000 purchases. THQ president Jason Rubin and RAD Game Tools are the top contributors at $1,050 each.

The original story follows below.

Publisher THQ has partnered with Humble Bundle to bring gamers the Humble THQ Bundle.

The name-your-own-price bundle includes games such as Darksiders, Metro 2033, Red Faction, Company of Heroes, Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor, and Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts. Upon choosing to donate more than the average amount listed on the site, Saints Row: The Third is added to the bundle. Purchasers also receive selected games' soundtracks DRM free.

The titles are required to be redeemed via Steam on Windows in order to play. Buyers can also decide how the proceeds of their purchase are to be divided, with a choice of THQ, a charity organisation, or Humble Bundle.

At the time of writing, the bundle has received more than $1 million in payments, and sports an average purchase amount of $5.59. This is not the first time that a Humble Bundle has exceeded $1 million in purchases.

In the past, the Humble Indie Bundles allowed gamers to not only name their own price for the collection of five independent games, but also choose how the proceeds were to be divided among developers, the charity, and the promotion's organisers.

Late last year, THQ cut its quarterly sales forecast by one quarter, and laid off 30 employees from its Agoura Hills, California-based Play THQ team.

More recently, executive vice president and chief financial officer Paul Pucino left the company. Despite speculation that the organisation is on the verge of collapse, THQ announced that it is in talks with an unnamed financial sponsor that will assist the publisher in creating financial options.
