Allison Weiss asks all of the important post-breakup questions in her "Making It Up" video.

If "The Post-It Always Sticks Twice" episode of "Sex And The City" taught us anything, it's that there really is no good way to break up with someone. Don't send an e-mail, don't text us, don't do it over Facebook, don't drop off the face of the Earth -- just have the human decency to tell it to our face! We deserve that much! Oh, um, er, sorry. Just feeling a little emotional transference from Allison Weiss' "Making It Up" video (off of her latest record, Say What You Mean), where the bespeckled indie-pop singer gets broken up with on a single sheet of paper, reading, "Allison, I can't do this. I'm sorry. -- Scott" OK, who's this "Scott" character?! Hope he likes knuckle sandwiches. Oh wait, it's her dog.

Even though she got dumped (by her dog...) in the worst way possible, Allison doesn't take her rejection lying down. (OK, maybe she technically does lie down for a third of the video, but you know what we mean!) In the Kristen Winter-directed clip, a heartbroken Allison asks all the usual questions that go through a dumpee's mind: "Am I making it up?/ Was it all in my mind?/ Were we ever in love?/ Was it all just a lie?"

Fed up with lolling around in her room, Allison takes her pity party outside, where she retraces her relationship steps in Brooklyn. Each location -- shopping for sunglasses, hanging out by the East River -- brings up all kinds of post-relationship flashbacks... with her dog, Scott. Because men are dogs. AMIRIGHT?

So, what was it like to re-enact the worst parts of post-relationship hell? "The director (Kristen Winter) and I had been talking about this concept for a while before we finally found time to make it happen," Allison told us of her new video. "The only weekend available was the one surrounding my birthday, so I celebrated my 26th year of life by crying on a bed for eight hours. Was it worth it? Absolutely."

That's the spirit!

Grab Allison's latest album, Say What You Mean, and catch her on the Vans Warped Tour this summer and on her cross-country tour dates through July.
