Video Premiere: The Bolts, ‘Wait ‘Til We’re Young’

The Bolts go retro in their black-and-white "Wait 'Til We're Young" video.

Guitars, bass, drums, keyboards, rock 'n' roll hooks -- what else you waiting for? How about a colorful retro video? The Bolts' "Wait 'Til We're Young" lands between "That Thing You Do!" and Andy Warhol, capturing the SoCal quintet jamming under candy-colored shapes and their own super-imposed faces. Picasso, baby. The pop-art invasion attacks the band's straightforward black-and-white performance, with The Bolts live and alone in a blank studio -- all they need is a band and a jam. (Isn't that a Justin Bieber song?)

Like its upbeat video, "Wait 'Til We're Young" is all flashy energy. The clean-cut track kicks off with a driving guitar riff before hitting the floor with a dance-y groove, recalling the earnest rock of fellow local boys Young the Giant or "Sex On Fire"-era Kings of Leon. "I could be lifted with music!" Ryan Kilpatrick sings. Brings us with you, dude. If you don't wanna wait (for this Bolts song to be over), the band's self-titled debut album thundered into stores in February.
