Watch Max Bemis Of Say Anything’s Acoustic ‘Buzzworthy Live’ Performance Of ‘Say Anything’ (VIDEO)

Watch Say Anything's Max Bemis' 'Buzzworthy Live' acoustic performance of 'Say Anything.'

Man, we only had to wait 12 years and five solid albums (and nearly as many EPs) into Say Anything's career to get a quirky, self-referential eponymous song named after the beloved band. And it was worth it to hear Max Bemis spin a romantic tale of superlative extremes (basically, "Say Anything" is like Meatloaf's "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)" but without the unanswered questions and the willful arrogance of the 1990s).

Say Anything's "Say Anything" video -- off the band's Anarchy, My Dear album -- dropped last week (watch it below), and while the band's low-fi, stop-motion basement hijinks are are like a crushed-out pep rally, on his own with just an acoustic guitar in the 17th floor studio at MTV, Max Bemis stripped down "Say Anything" to its earnest essence, Lloyd Dobbler style, leaving it a vulnerable ode to anyone who's not afraid to do anything for love.
