Watch Santigold Perform ‘Disparate Youth,’ ‘GO!’ & ‘L.E.S. Artistes’ At The mtvU Woodie Awards

If Steve Aoki brought the party, and Mac Miller brought the swag, then Santigold brought the drama and masterful artistry to the mtvU Woodie Awards, with her avant-garde, abstract performance of "Disparate Youth," her new single off her highly anticipated Master Of My Make-Believe album, out this April.

A rapt Austin audience fell under Santi's spell, as the high priestess of art-pop held court, bewitching the crowd with her impossibly controlled incantations, leading a mesmerizing "ay-oy" call-and-response that probably could've brought the Texas sun back up if Santi had felt like making that happen.

Her trademark twin dancers spun hypnotic parasols during "Disparate Youth," swung large mallets during her unforgettably haunting 2008 hit "L.E.S. Artistes," and eventually enveloped Santi in a cape made of golden metallic streamers during her enchanting, militaristic performance of "GO!," for a James Brown-referencing moment. If this is what Santi's make-believe looks like, I'm happy to take a break from reality.
