Watch Steve Aoki Perform ‘Turbulence’ With Lil Jon + More Woodie Awards Performances

The 2012 mtvU Woodies Awards were a really big deal for L.A. DJ Steve Aoki. The MTV PUSH alum was not only nominated in the newest Woodies category, EDM Effect, which highlights artists who are helping to introduce electronic music and its subgenres into the mainstream, but homeboy also got to show off his live skills as one of the show's performers, closing out a swelteringly hot night of live music with one of the hottest sets yet, including an assist from Dillon Francis and a giant inflatable raft that surfed the crowd with Steve inside on "Steve Jobs," off his Wonderland album. Steve Aoki also cooled down the hot, dusty crowd by making it rain champagne. Not bad for a kid who used to make money throwing parties in his dorm room.

Another reason Aoki Steve was happy to be there? He's been a fan of the Woodies since way back in the day. (Aww, shucks. Thanks, Steve!) "I've been watching the awards ceremony forever," he told the Huffington Post. "As an independent record label owner, the Woodie Awards is actually a really big deal for me, I've always looked at it as that important kind of step for artists to break out to a bigger part of their career." Steve definitely broke out at the Woodies -- he brought out Chiddy Bang and his friend and "Turbulence" cohort/crunk kingĀ Lil Jon, who we're pretty sure is the best guest you can bring to any award show. Ever.

Watch Steve Aoki perform "Turbulence" with Lil Jon and Chiddy Bang live at the 2012 mtvU Woodie Awards, and after the jump, watch him perform "Steve Jobs" and "Emergency," check out more Woodie Awards performances, watch Woodie Award Festival performances, and get the list of Woodies winners.
