Zack Snyder’s Justice League Releases Teaser Trailer

Director Zack Snyder has tweeted a short video, which in turn teases Saturday's expected release of a longer teaser for the long-fabled "Snyder cut" of 2017's Justice League. Snyder will be making an appearance at DC's virtual convention, DC FanDome, on August 22 at 2:45 PM PT / 5:45 PM ET in a panel that, according to Snyder's tweet, will kick off shortly after the new trailer's premiere at 2:30 PM PT.

Fans who haven't been following "Snyder cut" news can be forgiven for feeling confused at what the fuss is with a re-release of the 2017 film. We have a more comprehensive breakdown of what we know about the new version, but long story short: Snyder (Watchmen, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice), was initially involved but a troubled production and a family tragedy led to his leaving the project and Joss Whedon stepping in to take over as an uncredited director. The final product received mixed reviews, which led to strong demand for a director's cut fully realizing if not more closely approximating Snyder's vision.

The 23-second clip Snyder tweeted out doesn't tell you much, but it might at least convey the vibe the director's cut will inhabit. Earlier this year, Snyder told The Hollywood Reporter that this version shouldn't be thought of as a version, per se, but "an entirely new thing." In an interview, Snyder revealed that the previous theatrical cut is "one-fourth" of what he imagined.
